Houmeden

Houmeden is Denmark's oldest pedestrian street, and as the first in the country it celebrated its 40-year-old jubilee the 26th of June 2003. The narrow street and the many side streets such as Snaregade, Erik Menvedsplads, Vester Kirkestræde etc. invite you to go shopping. Here you will find a lot of specialist shops selling design, fashion, both clothes and shoes, needlework, children's clothes, coffee and tea, or take a break at a café and enjoy the old buildings.

Helligåndshuset bygget år 1485A building, distinctive of Houmeden, is Helligåndshuset (the House of the Holy Ghost). The house, built of the socalled monastic bricks, is from about 1485 and was a part of the Holy Ghost's Monastery. In front of the building, you will see sculptures of Steen Steensen Blicher and Henrik Pontoppidan, two authors who wrote about Randers and made the town famous.

 Market Trade

Here you can find anything you could wish for - from vegetables and flowers to home-made handicrafts. You are always sure to make a good bargain.
