Exhibit house for art and culture. Open for the public during exhibitions and by appointment. Tøjhuset (the Arsenal Museum) was built in the years 1801-1803. In order to counteract the results of a separation of the provinces during a war, the commander-in-chief of Jutland, Adolf Ludvig von Moltke, considered it a necessity that a centrally situated establishment was set up which on outbreak of war would be able to supply the shore defence installations with e.g. artillery and engineer equipment. The commander who led "the Etablishments along the Jutlandish shores" personally prepared the plans for Tøjhuset in Randers. Tøjhuset was owned by the military untill May 2000 when it was privatized. |
